About our equipment

Superbug Equipment Our professional quality Equipment produces a high quality sound and is powerful enough to handle all typical venues.

*Please note, when Superbug are booked to play a standard gig, all equipment including PA and speakers, mixer, back-line, microphones and leads will be provided by the band.

All you'll need to do is reserve us a suitable space with reliable mains power!

At this time the band are not able to bring lighting, stages, smoke machines or similar as standard. However we'll be happy to oblige where possible, although this may incur an additional cost. If required, please discuss with the band when booking or Superbug icon Contact Us to discuss.

Acoustic Guitar

We usually use a rather fetching grey/green Takamine icon Takamine acoustic 6 string, Superbug icon DI'd straight into the PA.

Bass Guitar

We asked him. He said "It's a black one". Now you know.
This is played through an Ashdown Ashdown icon ABM C210T-500 combo. For Medium to Large gigs we'll also connect this into the PA via it's D.I. output.

Drums

Pete Plays a striking red Yamaha icon Yamaha Drum Kit. He has a collection of Zildjian icon Zildjian and Paiste icon Paiste cymbals and wants everyone to know that he's just bought a new crash cymbal! That's the next 10 years covered then.

Electric Guitar

We won't list all Andy K's guitar related gubbins here - that may need another web-site. Even if you don't get bored reading it, we'll get bored typing it!
In the words of Jesse "This week, I 'ave been mostly playing ... a Limited Edition Fender Custom Shop Fender Custom icon Vintage HB Telecaster Relic® through a Mesa/Boogie Mesa/Boogie icon Lone Star Special® ". So slumming it again we see.

Keyboard

Damien plays a Yamaha icon Yamaha Keyboard, but can't travel anywhere without his special gigging nail to keep things together. We can connect this in either mono or stereo, depending on PA/Mixer channels (the keyboard, not the nail).

PA/Mixer & Speakers

We are happy to use in-house equipment if appropriate/convenient - please discuss in advance of the gig. If using house equipment we'll need the following PA/Mixer inputs for the full band for a standard pub/club or function performance:

Purpose XLR Jack (1/4 inch) Type
Vocals 3 0 balanced
Acoustic Guitar 0 1 unbalanced
Bass Guitar 1 0 balanced
Electric Guitar 1 0 balanced
Keyboards 0 2 unbalanced
Total: 5 3

When we bring our own gear we will be using a 16-channel Mackie Mackie icon 1604-VLZ3 mixer. Relatively small for what it does! This gives us extra channel space if we need to mic. up the drums (very unlikely for most gigs) - or even to add in e.g. CD's, iPods or a even DJ. Very handy when space and time is at a premium. Please let us know in advance if you need to use this facility.

This feeds into a Crown Crown icon XLS 802 amplifier, giving up to 1,600 Watts output. Don't worry, we won't turn it up full indoors.

This drives 2 Mackie Mackie icon S225 loudspeakers to give a full and rich sound at any volume. No clunking or wheezing noises please! These must stand on the floor and will each need a flat, stable area at least 50x50cm (20x20inches) in size.

Vocals & Microphones

Superbug use 3 Shure icon Shure SM58 Microphones for lead and backing vocals. In very small venues we may need to cut back to 2 to avoid feedback.
For Medium and Large sized gigs we'll also use a Shure icon Shure SM57 to mic. up the guitar cabinet.
